1. HYPONYMY

   • It's a term used to designate a particular member of a broader class
     • EX: A daffodil is a kind of flower

2. POLYSEMY

   • It's the association of one word with two or more distinct meanings
     • Ex: Good

3. PROTOTYPES

   • It's a cognitive reference point, i.e the proto-image of all representatives of the meaning of a word or of a category
     • EX: Canary-dove-duck (birds)

4. WORD PLAY

   • It's the clever and witty use of words and meaning

5. HOMOPHONES

   • They're a type of homonym that also sound alike and have different meanings, but have different spellings.
     • Ex: pear-pair

6. HOMONYMS

   • They're words that sound alike but have different meanings
     • Ex: lead and led

7. METONYMY

   • It's the use of a linked term to stand in for an object or concept
     • Pen" stands for "the written word.
