Christians believe that human life starts at conception. They believe that God made it happen
Legalised in 1967.
Legalised because many women were having backstreet abortions making many infertile and as many as 60 a year died as a result.
Abortion is legal if:
Two doctors agree
The point of viability: 24 weeks
Continuing the pregnancy would be a greater risk to the mother's future ability to have children
It would prevent permanent physical or psychological harm to the mother
There is a significant risk or certainty that the baby will be born with disabilities

Up to 24 weeks
Risk to mental health of woman
Risk to physical health of woman
Selective reduction of foetuses in multiple pregnancy
Risk to physical health of existing children
