1. Case

   • Provides a stable area to mount internal components and provides an environment to keep the components cool

2. Power Outlets

   • Converts AC power from the wall into the lower voltage of DC power required to power all components of the computer

3. Motherboard

   • Main printed circuit board that connects all the major components together

4. ROM

   • Long Term memory that retain instruction when the computer is shut down and provides basic instruction to the computer

5. RAM

   • Temporary memory that is used for the operating system(OS),application and data

6. Expansion Slots

   • Expand and customize the functionality of yr comp by adding controllers and ports

7. CPU

   • Brain of the computer where most calculation takes place

8. Hard Drive

   • Main Long term storage that holds the operating system, programs and data using magnetic disk

9. Floppy Disk Drive

   • A storage devices that store files using removable magnetic disks

10. Adapter Card

    • A printed circuit board that you can insert into a computer to give it added capabilites

11. Modem

    • A device or programs that enables a comp to transmit data over, eg telephone/cable lines

12. Port

    • An interface on a computer that u can connect a device

13. Optical Drive

    • A storage devices that stores files using removable disk that read and writes using a laser

14. Monitor

    • Primary output deivces

    • A devices that print text or illustration on paper

16. Chipset

    • A number of integrated circuits that allow the processor to communicate with other components within the computer.

17. AGP

    • A specialized interface for display adapters

    • Most common type of expansion slots
