Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing

1. Types of Service

   • Processing - this means that you could run complicated programs remotely
   • Software - you can pay to use the soft ware remotely
   • Infrastructure - you can pay to use the host's hardware
   • Storage - allowing your data to be stored remotely on the host's servers

2. Disadvantages

   • You must have an internet connection to access the stored data, processing power, software or infrastructure that you would like to use.
   • Cloud Storage can be vulnerable to hacking
   • You are dependant on the host company for providing security and backups
   • Cloud Computing services such as storage, software, processing and infratructure can be expensive

3. Advantages

   • Services such as storage and software can be accessed on any device that has an internet connection
   • It is easy to increase the amount of storage or infrastructure available
   • Security and backups are managed by the host company ( the cloud computing provider )
   • Cloud software is updated automatically
   • There is no need to pay IT staff to manage the hardware
