Natural Resources
There are three type of natural resources on the earth:
- Renewable resources
- Renewable resources are those that are regularly available like the water
- Renewable resources are those that are regularly available like the water
- Non-renewable resources
- Non-renewable resources are those that cannot be replaced once they are destroyed like the fossils
- Non-renewable resources are those that cannot be replaced once they are destroyed like the fossils
- Metallic and Non-metallic Resources
- Metallic minerals are those that have metals in them
- Non-metallic minerals have no metals in them
- Metallic minerals are those that have metals in them
- Renewable resources
What are natural resources?
- Natural resources are called resources that are the basis of life on earth
- things like trees, rocks, water, etc are natural resources
- Natural resources can be consumed directly or indirectly
- Sometimes, natural resources can be used as raw materials to produce something
- Natural resources are called resources that are the basis of life on earth
Role of natural resources
- Natural resources are available to sustain the very complex interaction between living things and non-living things.
- people consume natural resources incluing food, drink, housing, infraestructure, etc.

Threats to Natural Resources
- Environmental Pollution
- Land, water, and air pollution directly affect the health of the environments in which they occur
- Overpopulation
- Land Use
- Forests
- Fishing
- Need for more
- Climate Change
- The alteration in climate patterns as a result of excessive anthropogenic is hurting biodiversity and many other abiotic natural resources
- Environmental Pollution
Natural resource conservation
- To have an environmentally sustainable and secure future where we can still enjoy natural resources, we urgently need to transform the way we use resources by completely changing the way we produce and consume goods and services. All stakeholders must aim to provide information and raise public awareness about the natural resources we have and the need to ensure its health. Incentives must be given to businesses that use recycled raw materials and hefty fines to those that still tap from raw natural resources.

Distribution of Natural Resources
- there are some places that doesn't have natural resources
- The US has the world’s largest coal reserves with 491 billion short tons accounting for 27% of the world total
- China remains the largest producer of gold, with a 14% share of global production
- The United States, Russia, and Canada are the leading producers of timber and pulp

natural resource factsheet
- On average, an inhabitant of North America consumes around 90 kilograms of resources each day. They consumed only renewable natural resources such as wood and sun. Each person consumed only about 3kg of natural resources per day. In agrarian communities, more natural resources were used to power the farms, feed animals, and transport produce and meats. Of this amount, a third is recycled, and two-thirds are combusted to energy. The energy is enough to power 100,000 homes.
Resource Recovery
- Resource recovery is the separation of certain materials from the waste we produce to use them again or turn them into new raw materials for use again
- Fossil fuel use by the pulp and paper industry in the United States of America declined by more than 50% between 1972 and 2002
- It involves composting and recycling of materials that are heading to the landfill
- Resource recovery is the separation of certain materials from the waste we produce to use them again or turn them into new raw materials for use again
Problems associated with natural resources
- Too little natural resources
- In many regions of the world, a mix of limited resources, overpopulation, and environmental degradation has produced extreme poverty and income inequality
- Too much natural resources
- Greed, corruption, and conflict from revenue distribution, resource ownership, decision making, management, and access have fuelled local and international conflict
- Too little natural resources
