   • 1st Quadrant (x,y)
   • 2nd Quadrant (-x,y)
   • 3rd Quadrant (-x,-y)
   • 4th Quadrant (x,-y)

   • y-axis
     • Horizontal Perpendicular
     • Distance of a point from x-axis is called y-cordinate
       • Ordinate
   • x-axis
     • Vertical Perpendicular
     • Distance of a point from y-axis is called x-cordinate.
       • Abscissa

3. Need of Co-ordinate Geometry

   • In order, to locate any point in a plane, we require two perpendicular lines. The plane is called Cartesian plane.

4. Location

   • Origin
     • The point of intersection of x-axis and y-axis
     • Co-ordinate of origin = (0,0)
   • Co-Ordinate Of a point
     • If a point A denotes x and y respectively in the abscissa and ordinate, then (x,y) is the co-ordinates of point A.
     • Co-ordinates of any point on x-axis are (x,0)
     • Co-Ordinates Of any point on y axis is (0,y)
