           • procedural - skills, habits, priming, classical conditioning, non-associative learning
             • heterogenous collection of separate abilities that can be additionally associated from each other
               • many different processes and systems needed for procedural tasks - important to understand procedural memory

4. Semantic = general knowledge

   • problematic distinction - COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THEM - ep embedded in sem?
     • Anderson and Ross 1980 - sentence verification and recognition
       • semantic judgement affected by episodic info
         • fan effect - recog tests - episodic but could be applied to both, so not separate
   • Declarative = knowing what

   • Gabrieli 1988 - HM - verbal expressions from 1950s so semantic not functioning normally
     • Grossman 1987 - similar problems for Korsakoff syndrome
       • evidence against two independent systems
