   • tempts Macbeth into killing king Duncan by using her beauty as well as manipulation that was potentially damaging to his self-esteem
     • she questions his masculinity which at the time would have been very offensive

   • ambitious and ruthless
     • could only become queen if Macbeth became queen so displays enough ambition for the both of them by formulating plans the second opportunities arise for power
   • At the start of the play, she is a powerful temptress who has power and influence over her husband's decisions and actions
     • towards the end of the play, she is powerless and has lost control over her husband like when she tries to hurt his emotions by asking him if he was man enough he actually aggresively responded, demonstrating his power over her and her manipulative techniques have become ineffective

     • she's sleeptalking and there is actually no spot on her, suggesting that she is becoming mad. She hallucinates a spot of blood which symbolises guilt, suggesting that she is guilty about her regrettable actions but is trying her best not to be, but the guilt just won't wash away, despite her strong desire for it to
