factors that effect network performance

1. number of devices

   • The amount of bandwidth available has to be share between more
   • This would affect star topologies the most because they cannot transmit as much bandwidth as mesh

2. bandwidth

   • A internet speed with a higher bandwidth will be able to transmit more data at a given time
   • Mesh would have more bandwidth then star because it can transmit more data at a given time

3. topology

   • Mesh costs more money to set up but has faster more secure internet speeds than star
   • Mesh has more wires than star

4. network latency

   • A internet connection with less latency will be faster and not bottleneck unlike a network with lots of latency
   • Mesh would have more stable connections so a lower latency then star

5. LAN or WAN

   • LAN is faster than WAN because it covers a smaller area than WAN
   • LAN would be fastest with a mesh topoloy however it would cost more money
