1. Input/output

   • Input is how I communicate with the computer
     • Output is how the computer communicates with me.
   • Examples of output devices are:
     • Speakers - Amplify sound
     • Screen - Shows the images
     • Printer - A machine that prints out text and images
   • Examples of input devices
     • Mouse - moves the arrow on the screen so you can select different things.
     • Keyboard - A board with different keys that function when pressed.

2. Hardware

   • Hardware is the different parts that make up a computer
   • Examples of hardware devices
     • RAM (Random Access Memory) - A memory storage that is wiped when the computer is turned off
     • CPU (Central Processing Unit) - The brain of the computer
     • Motherboard - A printed circuit board that contains the main parts of a computer

3. Binary

   • Binary is the language of a computer
     • It is written in 1's and 0's
     • You find it translated when you put it in a grid 1 2 4 8 16 32 64 128

4. Networks

   • There are 3 different types of networks
   • Star network
     • Very expensive but if one work station breaks down the others don't
   • Ring network
