SERVERS
What is a server?
- A server is a system that provides resources, data, services or programs to other computers, known as clients, over a network. In theory, servers are considered those computers that share resources with client machines.
What is a file servers?
- A file server is a type of server that stores and distributes different types of computer files among clients on a computer network. Its function is to allow remote access in other ways to the files it stores or has access to.
What is a DNS servers?
- A name server is a hardware or software server that implements a network service to provide responses to queries in a directory service. Translates a text-based identifier to a numeric identification or internal system addressing component.
Describe the relationship between Client - Server.
- The client-server architecture is a software design model in which tasks are distributed between the providers of resources or services, called servers, and the requesters, called clients. A client makes requests to another program, the server, who responds. This idea can also be applied to programs that run on a single computer, although it is more advantageous in a multi-user operating system distributed over a computer network.
What should be taken into account in the structure of a server
- Today, a server may be nothing more than a collection of physical hardware, made up of a multitude of processors, disk drives, memory, and network connections. However, at its core, a server is still simply a system that responds to a request from a client.
Present 2 operating systems for servers?
- 1.Linux: The Linux server operating system is a UNIX-like operating system with all the corresponding functions. It is the dominant operating system on servers and supercomputers, in fact, more than 96.4% of the world's top million servers use Linux as their server operating system. It is free, open source, and supports multi-user, multi-process, and multi-thread operations. However, its implementation requires extensive technical knowledge for installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
- 2.Windows: The Windows operating system was developed in the mid-1980s for everyday personal use and professional servers. It provides services to multiple users and supports the management and control of data storage, applications, and enterprise networks. Windows for Servers is a cloud-based operating system that supports virtual memory management and has an intuitive graphical user interface. Plus, it's easier to install and use than most Linux-based operating systems. However, it is a paid system and faces more security threats, requiring downloading the latest security patches to protect the system and ensure continued security.
What is Cloud computing?
- Cloud computing, also known as cloud services, cloud computing, cloud computing or simply "the cloud", is the use of a network of remote servers connected to the Internet to store, manage and process data, servers, databases, networks and software. Instead of relying on an installed physical service, you have access to a structure where software and hardware are virtually integrated.
