DIGI Assessment

1. Prescribed Criteria

   • Your story must have at least 10 different variables in total
     • All the variables must be different
     • All the variables must serve a purpose in the game
     • All the variables must be shown and used in the game
   • You must have at least two choices for each input (IE. Yes | No, Left | Right, Buy | Sell)
     • There must be two or more choices
     • All the choices must do something different
   • You must use a WHILE loop
     • A while loop has to be in the game
   • You must use variables that match your storyline
     • The variables must support the story line in some way

2. Coding Constructs

   • WHILE Loops
     • The while loop is another control structure in Python that allows you to repeat a block of code while a certain condition is true. The basic syntax of a while loop in Python is as follows
       • Examples count = 1 while count <= 5: print(count) count += 1
   • FOR Loops
     • A FOR loop is a common control structure in Python that allows you to repeat a block of code a specific number of times. The basic syntax of a for loop in Python is as follows
       • Examples inventory = ['torch', 'key', 'map', 'rope', 'potion'] for item in inventory: print(item)
   • IF Statement
     • If and if-else statements are used in Python to perform conditional execution of code. They allow you to specify one or more conditions and depending on whether the conditions are met or not, the code inside the if or if-else block is executed. The basic syntax of an if statement is as follows
       • if condition: # code to be executed if condition is True else: # code to be executed if condition is False

3. Algorithm Constructs

   • Pseudocode
     • Pseudocode is used as the formal method of symbolising algorithms in Digital Solutions. Algorithm constructs are the building blocks or fundamental elements used to create algorithms.
   • Sequence
     • A sequence is a number of instructions that are processed one after the other.
   • Assignment
     • Assignment is used to store the value of an expression into a variable.
       • They are similar to the variables that you would have seen in maths (e.g. x=5).
   • Selection and Condition
     • A selection statement uses a condition to select, or determine, the next line of the program that is to be executed. These statements help to make decisions and change the flow of a program. In many languages, there are two types of selection statements:

4. Existing Text-Based Adventure Games

   • Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
     • The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is a text-based game with many strengths and weaknesses it is a puzzle solving game set in the universe of Douglass Adams and challenges players with the unique challenges
       • The strengths in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is the Humour ass their are many twists in bizarre scenarios that make a amile on your face it also has a very immersive interactive fiction which Can help people have a better bond
       • The Weaknesses in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is that it is Extremely difficult and the games puzzles are very complex and missing essential items could stop you from progressing completely. Also, the limited Player Agency restricts many players from exploration, and most paths often lead to failure
   • Forests of Lyrica
     • Forest of Lyrica is a text based game with lots of strengths and weaknesses it is a small world with many magical creatures and you have to overcome challenges to advance into the forest.
       • The strengths of the Forest of Lyrica is that it has interactive gamepley and exploration as you can explore a 3x3 grid map and the riddles and puzzles challenges which helps to add engagement and problem-solving elements into the game
       • The weakness in the Forests of Lyrica is that it is very small the game only has a 4x4 grid which restricts the progression and replayability. It also has alot od Bugs and Glitches whihc makes it unclear when you finish the game

5. Self-Determined Criteria

   • The Game must have at least one boss and it must be simple
     • The game must have one or more boss
     • The game must be simple to navigate and easy to play
     • The game must of a boss and has to be simple

6. Ideas For Story

   • Bosses
     • In may game i would like to create a boss fight and you take and deal damage to the boss you have 2 options attack or flee if you attack there is a block or attack and the boss does different stuff
   • Shop
     • I would like to create a shop there is 3 options for weapons the axe does 3 the sword does 4 and the hammer does 5
   • Coins
     • you start with 5 coins c=and you gain coins to buy weapons and progress in the game
