Computational Thinking
Thinking Ahead
- Very important to have a clear structure to follow
- This will save a lot of time as you don't have to decide what you're doing during creation
- You need to plan the outputs you want, so that you use the correct inputs.
- Caching and the idea of prefetching is a real world computing use of thinking ahead
Thinking Procedurally
- This involves breaking apart the steps in creating a program so that it is more manangable
- When planning a solution to a problem, it may be important to get the steps in order
- This can involve things such as checking for certain inputs before continuing a program, because previous information is necessary
Thinking Abstractly
- This is where you show the important details
- This saves time when reading a logarithm
- It makes it much simpler to write instructions
- Avoids repetition
- Eliminates distracting details
- This is where you show the important details
Thinking Logically
- Very important in planning programs in coding
- Involves making decisions at certain points
- Flowcharts have these decisions in them and are good examples of logical thinking
- When coding, you can create a flowchart with these logical decisions to decide what to do at certain points.
