Validation Checks

1. List Check

   • Only lets you enter in specific data that is shown on the list
     • eg. M or F. It wouldnt let you type in anything, you have to pick from those two options

2. type check

   • To check to see if the data entered is the correct type
     • Eg. For an Phone number only numbers are entered

3. presence check

   • You cannot leave the field empty, You have to type in the data required
     • eg. Passwords to the computer. If you dont type in your password, you cannot accsess the computer

4. Field length check

   • To make sure that a specific number of didgits are entered
     • Eg. If typing in a mobile number, only 11 didgits are typed in

5. Range check

   • Only a number/letter from a certain range can be entered
     • a secondary school student is likely to be aged between 11 and 16. The computer can be programmed only to accept numbers between 11 and 16.
