1. AESTHETICS

   • It will look modern to compensate for the fact that most dancers are young as it is a short career
   • appealing to both genders to break the stereotype of only girls doing ballet
   • not make it look/ be too comlicated
     • aimed towards a young audience so it should be easy to put together
   • distinctly different design so that it isn't similar to other chair designs

2. COST

   • designed for young audience so has to be within their price range
     • very likely parents will buy it for audiences more towards the lower end of the age range, so price most likely to be aimed at young adults/ adults
   • designed to be a long lasting/ durable product so the materials used may still make it expensive

3. CUSTOMER

   • age range from about 11 - 21
     • adjustments will have to be made to fit all heights of boys and girls within that age group

4. SAFETY

   • must be ergonomically correct so that injuries do not occur (e.g. RSI)
   • the pieces will have to be finished off properly so that things like splinters do no occur if made from wood
   • no small pieces
   • Stable chair so it doesn't topple over when customers sit down or use it for stretching/ warming up

5. SIZE

   • one size for all with additional adjustments
   • depends on where it is being stored. e.g. it would be smaller if stored in bedroom opposed to their dance studio

6. FUNCTION

   • for people to sit on comfortably
   • for ballet dancers to use the additional equipment effectively with ease

7. MATERIALS

   • wood will be the most suitable material to use as it can be easily worked and having previous experience working with wood I will know what to do to make my woodwork better to produce higher quality work
   • other materials can also be used to add some colour to the chair. however acrylic may make the chair look childish

8. MANUFACTURE

   • possibility of CAD/ CAM manufacture
   • pieces manufactured separately as it is a flat pack chair
     • use of standard components e.g. hinges, hooks, door handle
   • no adhesives should be used by the customer to put the chair together, therefore simple joints for the flatpack
