1. AIM: to challange Piaget's study by altering the conditions and methods used.

2. 252 children from Devon. Split into 4 groups: 5 yrs, 3 months. 6 yrs, 3 months. 7 yrs, 3 months. 8 yrs, 3 months.

3. IV: age, condition, task. DV: errors made.

4. Condition 1: STANDARD - traditional Piaget task (two questions). Condition 2: ONE JUDGEMENT - only asked one question after transformation. Condition 3: FIXED ARRAY - only saw post transformation.

5. THREE tasks: Mass, Number, Volume. tested each condition 3 times on each task. 12 trials in total per child. Systematically varied to prevent order effects.

6. Older children performed better than younger children. One judgement task was easiest. Numbers task was easiest.
