1. Used since 1950´s because is very effective

   • Plan
     • Identify the problem
       • -Area of weakness or something that we want to improve
     • Write a S.M.A.R.T improvement goal
       • Needs to be very specific and measurable
     • Determine what you need to do to achive the goal
       • Do a list with what you need to do to be able to reach that goal
         • Strategies
   • Do
     • Complete necessary training
       • Learn something new to help us achieve the goal
     • Prepare
       • Make our preparations
     • Implement change
       • Follow the strategies that we put into place
   • Study
     • Assess the effectiveness of the improvement strategy
       • Decide if it was effective or not
     • Evaluate data
       • See if our strategy has seemed to be effective or not
     • Study results
       • Look at some data and evaluate the results
   • Act
     • Take steps to make improvements permanent
     • Determine changes for the next cycle
   • If the process helps to achieve the goal it can be used as much as you want
     • You can do changes as you want
   • If the process did not help us to achieve the goal, we can change it as much as we want
     • New strategies, process, goals, etc.
