   • Programmers and users do not need to know where data is held
   • The operating system knows the location of all data within the computer

   • Manages the way hardware interacts with software

   • Remembers the location where files are stored
   • Removes human input for rememberence
     • Specific track, sector and surface address

   • Software used to control other hardware
   • Allow peripheral device to connect to a computer and used by the operating system
     • Graphics Cards
     • Mouse
     • Network interface cards
     • OS specific and are updated regularly by companies

6. Mulktitasking

   • Smaller time piece
     • Tasks appear to be executting at the same time
   • Appears to handle multiple programs open at the same time
   • Memory and processor are actually shared amoung tasks
