1. Web

   • .HTML
     • Hypertext Language Format used for websites and some programs
   • .CSS
     • Cascading Style Sheet usually used to format the content of a webpage
   • .FLASH
     • Usually used for showing videos and some web like games with the adobe flash extension
   • .PHP
     • Often used as webpage files that generate HTML code
   • .JAVASCRIPT
     • A file containing javascript to execute javascript coding

2. Video

   • .WMV
     • A video compressed by the Windows Media Compression
   • .M PEG-2
     • A type of compression that isn't really that popular using the .MP2 extention
   • .M PEG-4
     • A digital multimedia container format most commonly used to store video and audio
   • .MOV
     • A common multimedia storage developed by apple and compatible with both Macatosh and Windows
   • .AWI
     • Standard video format for windows computers

3. Audio

   • .MIDI
     • A widely used format for electronically instruments and computers to communicate
   • .MP3
     • Standard technology for compressing audio into a very small format
   • .WMA
     • A file extension used with Windows Media Player both as an audio format and audio codec
   • .WAV
     • Waveform Audio File Format is a Microsoft and IBM audio file format standard for storing an audio bitstream on PCs
   • .WAS/M4A
     • An audio file encoded with Advanced Audio Coding (AAC)

4. Graphics

   • .PNG
     • An image stored in the portable network graphic format and uses lossless compression. this is usually used for storing images on websites
   • .JPEG
     • Standing for joint Photographic Experts Group. It is usually used for compressing images, taking photos, and as well is the most common type of image format online
   • .GIF
     • Also known as graphic interface format, it's the type of file for rasterized animations
   • .PSD
     • The native file type for adobe photoshop
   • .AI
     • The native file type used by adobe illustrator
   • .TIFF
     • Standing for Tagged Image File Format, this format is usually used for printing images at high quality and are usually a lot larger than jpegs

   • .FLV
     • Stands for flash video has long been the standard video format used by nearly all embedded video on the internet
   • .SWC
     • Stands for shockwave component containing actionscript files, debug data, and icons that are compressed by means of the ZIP archive format.
   • .SWF
     • Stands for small web format and can contain vecotor based animations being efficient to send over the web
