1. Desktop computers

   • A desktop computer is a computer which, is suitable more suitable for offices rather than, it being portable. It cannot be portable due to, certain components.
   • Components of desktop computers.
     • Some features which are on a desktop computer are; a main case, dvd drive, a mouse, monitor and a keyboard.
       • Keyboard. Keyboards are used to input characters when writing or entering commands. Sometimes they have separate number keypads.
       • Mouse. A mouse is used to navigate the curser across the screen and select options or to chose from a menu.

   • Different types of monitors
     • There is a range of different monitors which vary in size an shape. They are also different to suit peoples uses.
     • Wide screen monitor. A windscreen is suitable for things like playing games and watching movies. A widescreen can also display documents side by side and also, they can be rotated to display a document in full.
     • Rotatable monitors. Rotatable monitors can be moved so they are either portrait or landscape. They allow for example, A4 page documents to be viewed.
     • Standard monitors. Standard monitors are mainly used and are suitable for office workers. The normal size of a standard monitor would be 4:3 and it allows documents to be viewed in normal proportions,.

2. Portable computing devices

   • Diffent types of portable computers.
     • A portable computer device is a computer is a computer which, can move to one place to another. It is also includes a portable screen and keyboard.
     • Laptop computer. A laptop computer is a compute which, allows people to travel with it. It has a built in screen, keyboard and pointing device.
     • Netbook computers. A netbook computer is smaller than a laptop. They don't usually have optical drives so they can be made smaller and lighter.
     • Tablet computer. Tablet computers are portable. They have no pointing device this means they have no physical keyboard either. Tablet computes are touch screen and have a touch screen keyboard.
     • Smartphone. A smartphone normally consists of a touch screen. It allows you to download apps, music and has internet access.
