     • better predictor of verbal ability than word span
     • memory + reading
     • similarity of processing in reading/listening/comp span compared with word span

3. Turner + Engle 1989

   • Operational span task
     • maths prob and word
       • better predictor of reading comp than STM span
     • supports concept of WM system with info processing with temp storage
       • WM span = GI (more than is STM)
