1. Fusion Welding

   • Ivolves the partial melting of two members welded in the join. The thermal energy requiered is supplied by:
     • Electrical Energy
       • Arc-Welding: an arc is produced btw the tip of an electrode and the workpiece
         • Consumable
           • Usually coated to protect the pool from oxidation, slow down cooling rate...
             • GMAW
               • Arc generated by touching the consumable tip to the workpiece and quickly retiring it.
               • The weld area is shielded by gas from external source. There is a metal transfer.
               • Highly effective
         • Non Consumable
           • GTAW
             • The arc is genersted btw the non consumable W and the workpiece
             • Filler metal is not added or is added independently
         • Other
           • Laser Beam Welding
             • La corriente de electrones a alta velocidad se enfoca estrechamente con campos magneticos. El haz de electrones crea un calor cinetico haciendo que se derrita. Se lleva a cabo en vacio.
     • Chemical Energy
