1. What is it?

   • Excel is an electronic spreadsheet program that can be used for storing, organizing and manipulating data

2. It has:

   • Spreadsheet: is a computer program that is used for storing, organizing and manipulating data.
     • The spreadsheet has:
       • Cell: each rectangular box in a rowworksheet is referred to as a cell
       • Row: Rows run horizontally in an Excel worksheet.
       • Columns: are a fundamental part of any spreadsheet, they run vertically.
       • Range: is a group or block of cells in a worksheet that have been selected or highlighted. When cells have been selected they are surrounded by an outline or border.

3. What is a function?

   • is a preset formula in Excel. Like formulas, functions begin with the equal sign ( = ) followed by the function's name and its arguments. The function name tells Excel what calculation to perform. The arguments are contained inside round brackets.
     • Examples:
       • =SUM(RANGE)
       • =MIN( )
       • =MAX( )

4. What is it used for?

   • Excel has many different purposes depending on the goal that you are trying to reach. Excel can be used as an analytical tool, or even corporate budgeting
