1. INJET PRINTERS

   • Inkjet printers make use of small jets that squirt ink onto a piece of paper using lasers as guides. Inkjets normally print in colour and produce very high quality prints, suitable for graphics. They are mostly found in small offices and homes.
     • ADVANTAGES
       • High quality printouts//Colour prints//Cheap to buy//Quiet operation//Smaller than most other printers//No toxic gases are produced
     • DISADVANTAGES
       • Very expensive to run//Inks are used up quickly//Pages can smudge if the ink is still wet//Slow printing speed

2. DOT MATRIX PRINTER

   • Dot matrix printers are printers which use small pins to punch out characters onto a sheet of paper using an inked ribbon. They put out a lot of noise so are most suitable for places where noise is not an issue ex. workshop
     • ADVANTAGES
       • con be used with continuous stationary (can print long lists of inventory, stock, invoices, etc.)//Cheaper to run than inkjets//They are very reliable
     • DISADVANTAGES
       • Pins hitting the paper are very noisy//They are expensive to buy//Slow to print//Most cannot print in colour//Low quality prints//Unsuitable for printing graphics

3. LASER PRINTERS

   • Laser printers are the fastest printers and because of this, they are the most desirable printer for offices which use networks.
     • ADVANTAGES
       • Print at high speed//High quality prints//Very quiet//Cartridges last a long time//cheap to run//reliable//no wet pages that smudge
     • DISADVATNAGES
       • Most print in B&W, colour ones are expensive to buy//More expensive to buy//High power consumption//Most are quite large so they take up a lot of space

4. GRAPH PLOTTERS

   • Graph plotter a re printers which print on a very large scale so are mainly used for printing out large maps or on big sheets of paper
     • ADVANTAGES
       • High quality printouts//Can print on large sheets of paper//can also print on card
     • DISADVANTAGES
       • Slow to print//Expensive to run and buy
