Decomposition
- Decomposition is the act of taking a large problem and breaking it downinto smaller more managable problems
- We use decomposition to to make really big problems more managable and less scary.
- An example of this is when we solve a crime. It can seem quite overwhelming but you can break it down into things like witnesses, evidence, where, when and any crime similarities
Abstraction
- Abstraction is the act of removing unnecessary detail from a problem to simplify it
- We use abstraction to complete only what we want to and nothing else and to simplify problems
- An example of this is the famous London underground where the creator didnt bother to put unnecessary detail in like the geographical location of the places
Pattern Recognition
- Pattern recognition is the process of identifying repeated elements
- We use pattern recognition to avoid solving the same problem more than once
- An example of this is in coding when you want something to do something multiple time you can just put a repeat
Algorithms
- Algorithms are sets of step by step instructions to solve a problem
- Structured english
- A structure English algorithm uses short, structured sentences to express instruments
- Flow Charts
- Terminator
- Process
- Decision
