1. Basic concepts

   • X is the independent variable
   • Y is the dependent variable
   • The set of input values of x is called the domain of definition of the function f, and is expressed using the notation Dom f
   • The set of output values of x is called the range of f. F(x)= y

2. Domain of definition

   • 1. Equalize to zero
     • Y= 1/ x-2
     • X-2= 0
     • X= 2

     • Yes= you have to do you have to make an axis with a value smaller than x and one bigger
       • Then you have to replace the axis number with x in the formula
         • If you can substitute the number on the right the domain would be Dom f ( - infinito, x)
         • if you can substitute the number on the left the domain would be Dom f ( x, infinito)

3. Continuous functions. Discontinuities

   • A function is continuous when it has no discontinuities of any kind
   • Why they are discontinuos?
     • There is a jump at point a on the axis X
     • Its branches tend to infinite at point a
     • There is a point missing
