   • represents an idealized model of computing
     • capable of storing and processing information

2. Similar to a finite automaton but with an unlimited and unrestricted memory

   • is much more accurate model of a general purpose computer

3. Differences

   • turing machine can both write on the tape ande read from it
   • the read-write head can move both to the left and to the right
   • The tape is infinite
   • The special states for rejecting and accepting take effect inmediately

   • The machine belt is unlimited in length
   • The read and write head can be programmable.
   • The Turing machine is capable of performing six types of fundamental operations
   • Has the ability to compute anything
   • It is made up of an input and output alphabet and a special symbol called white
