Ageing Population

1. The ageing population is caused by increasing life expecting and dropping birth rate

   • 1)people are living longer because of medicine 2)Lots of babies were born after the war  3)Since 1970s. the number of babies born has fallen

2. The Uk's population causes a few problems

   • 1) More elderly people are living in poverty - the working population isn't large enough to pay for a decent pension 2) Even though the state pention is low the govenment is struggling.

3. The UK government has strategies to cope with the ageing population

   • 1)Raise the retirement age 2)Encourage immigration of young people to the UK 3)Encourage women to have children  4)Encourage people to take out private pensions
