Space - the final frontier?

Space - the final frontier?

1. DISAGREE

   • Humans curiosity outmatch
   • promote international cooperationand research effort
   • helps understanding of biological evolution
     • find minerals unobtainable on Earth
     • Evidence of life-forms
     • unmanned space probes = safe pathfinders
   • we need another planet for human surviving
   • it is necessary to understand our galaxy to understand our own planet

2. AGREE

   • no robot can substitute for a human on the spot
   • huge challenges on Earth
     • generating non-fossil-fuelled energy
     • conserving fresh water
     • feeding a growing population
   • space explorations includes high risks
     • ex: Columbia Shuttle
       • broke up on re-entry to Earth's atmosphere
       • crew was killed
       • whole programme was thrown into doubt
   • manned space flight is more costly than unmanned probes
     • space tourism = insults the death
       • make light of the dangers in the ultimate ego trip
   • much to be learnt on our earth and planet, but wasting time, money and resources on manned space travel isn't the most efficient way for this
