1. 3 Modes

   • Mode 1 - non secure
     • All other devices have full access
     • Protects no services
   • Mode 2 - service level enforced security
     • implements security at the level of each service
     • any authorisation or authentication must happen after the channel is established
     • Initiated after the channel is established
     • Protects select services
   • Link level enforced security
     • Security enforced at the link level
     • initiated before the channel is established
     • Protects all services

2. Each Bluetooth device has a unique public device address = BD_ADDR
