     • 1st generation - machine code
     • 2nd generation - assembly
     • 3rd generation - imperative
     • 4rd generation - data query, analysis and reporting

     • Code
       • Coding: writing of a program for the computer to process data
         • Source code: set of computer instructions written using a programming language as ordinary text
         • Object code: code produced by a compiler or assembler
         • Assembly code: programming language that is close to the binary machine code
         • Executable code: software in a form that can be run by the computer
       • Compiler: program that converts instructions to machine code to be headed or executed
         • Compiling: is to translate a source code into an object code
         • Linking: is the creation of an executable from multiple object codes

2. Making a program

   • Define the problem
   • Design the program
   • Code the program
   • Test the program

3. Solving a problem

   • Find important numbers and words
   • Understand what the problem asks
   • Select a strategy to solve the problem
