Definitions Atoms- are the smallest unit of an element element-an element is a pure substance that is made out of atoms Molecules-is formed when two or more atoms chemically joined together. Compounds-is a molecule that contains two differnet elements. A compound differs from a molecule because it itself is a molecule that has to have two elements within it however a molecule can be made out of the same elements chemically bonded or joined tog.
