Waterfall

A waterfall is when a river falls over a vertical slope.a waterfall occurs when a band of hard rock lies on top of a band of soft rock. As the water flows over, the soft rock is eroded more quickly than the hard rock on top of it. An undercutting develops under the waterfall. The river's load also helps to erode a deep hole called a plungepool. Overtime an overhang develops. The overhang eventually falls and the water retreats upstream. e.g. Aasleigh Falls ( Mayo )
