El Nino - Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is an irregularly periodic variation in winds and sea surface temperatures over the tropical Eastern Pacific Ocean (affects most of the tropics and subtropics).
The warming phase is known as El Nino and the cooling phase is known as La Nina.
La Nina - cooler than average sea surface temperatures in the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean.
Influences of Climate Change on ENSO:
Due to climate change, El Nino and La Nina are happening much more often causing disturbance throughout the central and eastern pacific range.
