     • Our ancestors that used peripheral vision while looking at the sky or sharpening their flint, were able to survive the lion attack and passed on a dominant peripheral vision gene
   • What you see out of the corner of your eye
   • Visible, but not focused on
     • Ads are placed around the edges of screens, sometimes with movement, to get our attention
       • If you want someone to focus on something on your web page, don't use ads with motion along the edges
         • People decide what a web page is about by scanning around the edges quickly with their peripheral vision
           • Use information related to your web page around the center of the screen so the viewer can identify what the page is about
   • Gives info on what type of scene is being seen
