• An atom is the smallest part of an element that can exist which can not be broken down any further. Everything in the universe is made up of atom.
• The radius of an atom is 0.1 nm (1 × 10 -10 m);0.1 nm (1 × 10 -10 m).

• Each element starts with a capital letter, so to recognize an element you will only see a capital letter once (and might also be followed be a smaller case letter depending on the element name).
• Recognizing a compound
• With a compound you will see capital letter twice (which might be next to one and other or seperated by a number inbetween).
