Group 7 - The Halogens

• As you go down group 7, the halogens have the following properties:
• They become less reactive
• Higher melting point
• Higher boiling point
• They become less reactive because is is harder for the outer shell electrons to get involved in a reaction by gaining one electron since the outer shell gets further away from the nucleus.
