- 2• What do the prescriptive and descriptive approach refer to○ Prescriptive approach refers to an approach where it is prescriped how you should speak. Even as a native speaker you will be corrected
○ Descriptive approach tries to describe the language people actually use - 3• What is surface and what is deep structure?○ Surface structure is the sentence structure - what words are being used and in which class they belong
