1State how you are going to present the results you have collected?
- AI am going to present my results in a scatter graph. It should show that as the object distance increases, the image distance decreases
- BIn my primary results there were 2 anomalous results. Both are circled in my table. state where they are I chose to exclude these results as they affected the average for the object distance quite a lot. In my secondary evidence there was 1 anomalous result. Again circled in my table. state where it is I chose to include these results because they didn't change the average too much.
2State How you identified and dealt with any anomalies from your primary and secondary evidence
- AIn my primary results there were 2 anomalous results. Both are circled in my table. state where they are I chose to exclude these results as they affected the average for the object distance quite a lot. In my secondary evidence there was 1 anomalous result. Again circled in my table. state where it is I chose to include these results because they didn't change the average too much.
- BI am going to present my results in a scatter graph. It should show that as the object distance increases, the image distance decreases
3State How well your evidence supports your conclusion
- AMost of my results from my primary data and my secondary date support my conclusion that as the object distance increases the image distance decreases. This is because of the way lenses are formed by refraction Even with the anomalous results which i included in both my primary data and my secondary data they still both followed the trend.

4Use your conclusion to explain if the hypothesis is correct
- AMy graph shows a negative correlation / an inversely proportional relationship between the object distance and the image distance ; as the object distance increases, the image distance decreases. Given that the object distance is longer than the focal length of the lens, the image distance should decrease as the object distance increases. The shortest object distance of 20cm gave the longest image distance of ".....", whilst the longest object distance of 70cm gave the shortest image distance of "....". The graph is initially very steep (a large change in the image distance) from 20cm to 40cm, however from about 45cm onwards the changes were very gradual which is shown by the graph flattening out.
- BMy conclusion proves my hypothesis is correct because as the object distance increased consequently the image distance decreases showing my hypothesis was correct. In my primary data....This is also supported by my secondary evidence...give examples for both. The shape of the graph shows that the closer the object distance gets tot he focal length the more rapidly the image distance will decrease, As the object distance increases the image distance goes to a fixed limit. The graph levels off
5Use scientific ideas to explain the conclusions you can draw form all your collected evidence?

6Describe the strenghts and weaknessess
- AStrenghs
Lens fixed in lens holder makes sure it is vertically upright meaning no distortion
Focusing image provides accurate image distance
Reliabilty because it is repeated 4 times
Weaknesses
Not fixed in lense holder means it could be distorted
Imperfections in the screen could me the image cannot be focused - BStrenghs

Background light could make it hard to measure the image distance at grater lenghts
Hard to aign the screen lens and object

7Modify method
- ATo improve the quality of my results I would first secure the lens to the holder, and the holder to the surface to avoid any movements which could cause anomalies. I would also do the experiment in a darker room so observing the image at greater distances would be easier
- BTo provide stronger evidence for my conclusion I would repeat the experiment with a wider range of object distances with intervals of 1cm instead of 5cm to identify a stronger trend. I would also repeat the experiment with other convex lenses which have different focal lengths to see if my conclusion applies for all convex lenses.
