How to sort through facts at the start of the innovation process. A two stage process to find the insights that'll offer the creative magic you need to begin idea generation.
Phase one:Consider the facts you've just gathered and look for:
Themes (what keeps coming up)
Surprises (what didn't you expect)
New ground (what feels fresh)
Get physical and group these facts according to subject matter
Phase two:Now consider these common themes, fresh ideas and surprises and ask:
Why are these the facts that have grabbed our attention?
What's going on beneath the surface?
From this point you'll find insights will emerge - insights are thoughts or observations that you believe will have real resonance for many people - they give you an 'aha!' moment!
