They found that both general and specific verbal instruction was used alongside preparation and modelling. The mothers who changed their help on the basis of the child's response were more likely to have their child succeed at the task. Balance scale problem

Involved 100 children aged between 4-12. Doll placed in model mountain range. Child shown 10 pictures and had to pick which showed view of the doll. No quantitative data however at 7 children were more able to do the task and at 9 were successful
