Most are attached to an executable file cannot do any harm unless you run or open it (e.g. email attachment ) - 2PHISHINGA request for personal information which can be used to carry out identify theft

Similar to worms but is not spread by human action it has the ability to travel on its own – creating a devastating effect - 4DoS AttackDenial-of-service attacks – attempt to stop a computer working by flooding it with other data such as requests etc…
- 5TROJANA virus which fools the user thinking it is something useful e.g. anti-virus software. They vary – can cause serious damage by deleting files/data to quite harmless causing irritation e.g. changing your desktop/adding silly desktop icons
- 6PHYSICAL THREATSInclude fire, flood, earthquakes, and theft/removal of physical devices on which data is stored including USB sticks.
- 7HACKINGUnauthorised entry into a computer system with(out) the intention of doing damage
- 8FIRE WALLA piece of software or hardware which can have security attached to it. In order to pass through it, data must meet criteria set by the administrator of the system. Most common is blocking sites deemed unsuitable from being downloaded from the internet.
- 9ANTI-SPAM SOFTWAREIs software which can block junk emails or emails that are sent in bulk or from senders who you don’t know.
Dealing with it costs time, money and resources. - 10—Is software that can detect if a virus is present on a system, alert the user and remove it if desired
- 11ANTI-SPAM SOFTWAREUsed to store and transfer data by scrambling the data. Data is converted into a code using an encryption key before being transmitted it is then encrypted into the original data using a decryption key
