ascending aorta
Brachiocephalic Trunk
Right common carotid artery
Right subclavian artery
arch of aorta
Left common carotid artery
Left subclavian artery
Internal carotid artery
External Carotid Artery
Internal Carotid Artery
External carotid artery
Ascends from a point near the superior border of thyroid cartilage
Runs posteromedially to ramus of mandible, passes by parotid gland, @ parotid external splits into terminal branches and superficial temporal and maxillary arteies
Boundaries are sternocleidomastoid, superior belly of omohyoid and posterior belly of digastric
Ascending pharyngeal artery
Lingual Artery
Facial Artery
Superior thyroid artery
Branches in Carotid Triangle (there are terminal and posterior too)
Occipital artery
Posterior Auricular artery
Posterior Branches (there are more)
Maxillary Artery
Superficial temporal artery
Terminal Branches
Moves anteriorly and inferiorly, Enters larynx and supplies portions
Supplies pharynx and Vertebral, column
Palatine artery
Goes to soft palate and palatine tonsil
Sublingual Artery
Branches off hyoid Supplies blood to suprahyoid muscle and submandibular gland
Deep lingual Artery
Dorsal Lingual Artery
Given off flow of mouth, Supplies to mandibular lingual gingiva, floor of mouth, mucous membranes of area, adjacent muscles
Supplies blood to posterior tongue, tonsils and, soft palate
Supplies blood to inferior tongue and apex (anterior tip) of tongue)
Supplies skin and muscles of facial expression (such as areas around the mouth, around orbit, etc)
Arches anteriorly and superiorly, this artery crosses the inferior border of the mandible, a pulse can be felt (covered by platysma and skin)
Terminates as angular artery which is at base of nose and medial corner of eye
Branches off at mandible
Arises slightly superior or at the same level as the facial artery
Supplies sternocleidomastoid muscle, deep muscles of neck and, posterior part of scalp
Supplies tympanic cavity, outer ear, adjacent scalp
Ascends through parotid, felt across zygomatic arch
Supplies parotid gland, masseter muscle, external ear, TMJ and scalp to superior ear
Mandibular
(medial to neck of condyle)
Pterygoid (in infratemporal fossa)
Regions (formed in pterygopalatine fossa)
Arises at level of neck of condyle (passes medial condyle between neck and sphenomandibular ligament
Now crosses the infratemporal fossa then enters the pterygopalatine flsssa
Emerges onto face via infraorbital foramen
Supplies:
Maxillary and mandibular teeth and jaws
Muscles of mastication
palate
part of nasal cavity
Dura mater
parts of ears
Veins
Facial Vein
Retromandibular vein
Major drainage of face
begins medial to eye as angular vein
Connects with
Common Facial Vein
internal Jugular Vein
Submental Artery
Inferior Labial Artery
Superior Labial Artery
Lateral nasal artery
Angular artery
Terminal end of the facial artery
Inferior Alveolar Artery
Incisive artery
Mental Artery
Mylohyoid artery
Nasopalatine artery
Posterior Superior Artery
(PSA)
Descending Palatine Artery
Greater Palatine Artery
Infraorbital artery
Lesser Palatine Artery
MSA
ASA
Supplies sublingual and submandibular gland. lymph nodes in area, mylohyoid and digastric muscles
Runs inferior and superior to lips, supplies lips
Supplies blood to skin of muscles in nose
Supplies blood to tissues around the orbit
Angular artery has an anastomoses with the opthalmic artery og the internal carotid
THIS IS 1 BRACH OF THE EXTERNAL CAROTID THAT IS PRIMARILY INTRACRANIAL
Runs in area of infra. fossa
Supplies: the Buccinator and main muscles of mastication (masseter, temporalis, medial and later pterygoid)
Pterygopalatine (in its fossa)
Supplies lingual gingiva of man.
Runs inside Man canal
Direct continuation of IAa, runs in man canal
Supplies skin of chin and mucous membrane of lower lip
Facial gingiva from mental foramen to midline
Travels medially along mandible to midline
Supplies: mylohyoid muscle
Supply maxillae, max teeth, nasal cavity and palate
ORGINATED MEDIAL TO infratemporal fossa
leaves pterygopalatine fossa by way of pterygomaxillary fissure, descends on the posterior surface of max and enters
Supplies: Max Posterior teeth (except mesiobuccal)
BUCCAL gingiva
Begins in fossa, moves anteriorly through the infraorbital canal and emerges out foramen
Supplies: Lower eyelid, cheek, upper lip and lateral nose
Arterial branch of infraorbital artery, given off in the Infraorbital canal
Supplies: mesiobuccal root of 3&14 amd premolars (PDLS and roots and alveolar bone)
FACIAL gingiva
ARTERIAL BRANCH OF INFRAORBITAL Artery. More anteriorly MSA
Supplies: Max anterior teeth
FACIAL ginigval
ASA, MSA and PSA are all in anastomose with eachother.
L + R ASA anastomose with itself at the midline
Runs inf in greater and lesser palatine canals
Supplies:
LINGUAL gingiva adjacent to max POSTERIOR teeth
POSTERIOR hard palate
Supplies:
Soft palate and palatine tonsil
Begins in pterygopalatine foosa, medially through sphenopalatine foramen, medially to nasal septum, on septum anteriorly and inferiorly, emerges out nasopalatine/incisive foramen
Supplies:
LINGUAL gingiva of Max anteriors
Anterior hard palate
Off carotid @ superior border of thyroid cartilage, enters skull thry carotid canal, travels and ascends above foramen Lacerum to lesser wing of sphenoid
Reaches brain by turning sup +post to anterior clinoid process
NO BRANCHES GIVEN OFF AT NECK
Vertebral artery
Follows cervical vertebrae superiorly
Enters cranial vault but foramen Magnum
Vertebral Artery (info on other side)
Basilar Artery
Supplies various areas of the Brain
Joining of L&R vertebral arteries
Basliar artery connects the INTERAL CAROTID ARTERIES AND VERTEBRAL ARTERIES IN the CIRCLE OF WILLIS
located at the base of the brain near the sella turcia
anastomoses- allows for equalization of blood supply to the brain
