1. encryption

   • every time you power your phone on,you'll need either a numeric pin or password to decrypt the device. An encrypted device is far more secure than unencrypted one. when encrypted, the only way to get into the phone is with the encryption key.
   • To encrypt a message you need a cipher (method of scrambling data) To decrypt a message you need a key
   • you can tell if a website is using encryption for your data as the is a lock by the https
   • all websites choose not to use encryption because they dont need to know personal details

2. physical security

   • the protection of personal, hardware, software, networks and data from physical actions and events that could cause serious loss or damage to an enterprise, agency or institution

3. password

   • a word or string of characters that allow access to a computer, interface or system
   • a secret word or phrase that must be used to gain admission to a place

4. firewal

   • used to help protect a computer network from intruders
   • controls which programs can receive and send data packets
   • prevents harmful data from entering your computer
   • used when programs are trying to connect to another network

5. anti-virus

   • ant-virus software , sometimes known as anti malware software, is computer software used to prevent, detect and remove malicious software. Antivirus was originally developed to detect and remove computer viruses.
   • needs updating regularly to make sure that it knows the latest threats
   • should be used on email attachments
   • should be used when downloading new software from the internet
   • scans the computer periodically
   • quarantines any programs or files which are harmful
   • protects against malicious software
