     • Particularly a question about the speed of a car

2. Participants

   • 45 students
   • 5 groups of 9

3. Procedure

   • Pp's watched a video of a car crash
     • They were then asked to estimate the speed
       • In a critical question surrounded by filler quesrions

4. Conditions

   • The verbs used
   • "Hit"
   • "Smashed"
   • "Collided"
   • "Contacted"
   • "Bumped"

   • The verb in the question

   • The mph the Pp's estimated

7. Method and design

   • Independent group design
   • Laboratory experiment

8. Controlled variables

   • Same video
   • Same questions
   • Same verb (dependent on group)

9. Results

   • Pp's that had the verb "smashed"guessed a higher speed

10. Evaluation

    • Lacks population validity
      • It only uses students
      • The results cant be generalised
