1. Solid State

   • Advantages
     • AN advantage is that it has better portability compared to magnetic since there are no moving parts
     • It is faster them the normal drives
     • Its durability is more better than magnetic because there are no moving parts
   • Disadvantages
     • The lifespan of it is not as good as
     • It isn't cost effective compared to magnetic and optical
     • The storage is not as good
   • Examples
     • Phones
     • tablets
     • Laptops

2. Magnetic

   • Advantages
     • It has the largest capacity
     • The cost isn’t as bad as a solid
     • It is portable
   • Disadvantages
     • It has a slower reading/writer rate than a solid state
     • Isn’t as durable
     • It is more difficult to retrieve individual files
   • Examples
     • PCs, desktops, computers, game consoles

3. Optical

   • Advantages
     • The cost is not as pricey as a hard disk
     • It is easy to carry because it is small size than
     • Faster read/write speed then a Magnetic device
     • The most portable compared to solid state and magnetic
   • Disadvantages
     • It hasn’t got as much storage
     • isnt as durable as a
     • It has a slower read/write speed then a solid state
   • Examples
     • blue ray
     • DVD
     • CDs

4. What do you need storage for ?

   • You need it to store data ( files photos videos )
   • It is non volitile meaning data is stored whilst the computer is off
