Elements of a Computer system

1. Computer

   • An electronic device, that can take some inputs (data), process the data and output a result (information).
     • Computer

2. Peripheral

   • A computer device and is connected somehow to a computer, such as a keyboard or printer, but is not part of the essential computer. It is different to hardware.

3. Input

   • Input can take a variety of forms, from commands you enter from the keyboard to data from another computer or device. A device that feeds data into a computer, such as a keyboard or mouse, is called an input device.

4. Output

   • Any information that is processed by and sent out from a computer or other electronic device is considered output. An example of output is anything viewed on your computer monitor screen, such as the words you type on your keyboard.

5. Process

   • A process is the instance of a computer program that is being executed by one or many threads. It contains the program code and its activity.

6. Storage Device

   • A storage device is any computing hardware that is used for storing, porting and extracting data files and objects. It can hold and store information both temporarily and permanently.

7. Hardware

   • The collection of physical parts of a computer system. Objects that you can physically touch
     • Keyboard
     • Mouse
     • Moniter
     • CD
       • CD case

8. Software

   • A set of instructions and its associated documentations that tells a computer what to do or how to perform a task. You can't 'touch' it. Software includes all different software programs on a computer, such as applications and the operating system.
