1. Program that scans a computer to stop harmful programs being installed

2. A virus is a program designed specifically to change or delete files

3. A virus installs itself without your knowledge and harms your computer without you knowing it, so this is why an anti-virus program is needed

4. An anti-virus software helps in many ways including: -preventing new harmful programs being installed -prevents system files being changed/deleted -does scans to detect viruses and removes found ones.

5. New viruses are created all the time so the 'utility' of your anti-virus software must be updated regularly.
