  1. Algorithms

    • Algorithms are the maths behind code, it can be written in pseudo code or as a flow diagram
    • Algorithms are made to solve a problem, if you have a problem you will solve it by writing an algorithm that will be the math behind the code
  2. programming languages

    • HTML
      • Hyper text markup language
      • is the standard markup language to create web pages
      • It is written in the form of HTML elements consisting of tags enclosed in angle brackets (like <html> ).
      • web browsers can read HTML files and compose them into visual or audible web pages
    • High level code
      • A high-level programming language is a programming language with strong abstraction from the details of the computer.
        • in comparison to low-level programming languages, it may use natural language elements, be easier to use, or may automate (or even hide entirely) significant areas of computing systems (e.g. memory management), making the process of developing a program simpler and more understandable relative to a lower-level language.
    • Machine code
      • machine code is a programming language that consists of binary or hexadecimal instructions which a computer can respond to directly
        • the most basic type of code
          • this is also known as low-level code
    • translator
      • compiler
        • a compiler is a program that takes the source code and converts it all at once into machine code. this machine code is then stored in an 'executable' file. these often have a .exe or .com extension
      • interpreter
        • an interpreter is a program that takes a single line of high-level source code at a time and converts it into machine code. this machine code is then immediately run on the CPU and if there are any errors in the source code, it will be shown to the user or it may simply refuse to run without any explanation.
