Microprocessors

Microprocessors

1. It is an electronic circuit that acts as the Central Processing Unit (CPU) of a computer.

   • This has been the brain of the computer, the engine, the heart of this machine.
   • The assembly of the processor is done with the help of a CPU socket welded onto the motherboard.
     • Connection types
       • PGA: Pin Grid Array
       • BGA: Ball Grid Array
       • LGA: Land Grid Array

2. Functions

   • Performs all calculation operations
   • Controls what happens on the computer.
     • Receive information
     • Give orders for the other elements to work.

3. Parts

   • Encapsulated
   • Cache memory
   • Math coprocessor
   • Registers
   • Memory
   • Ports
   • Internal bus

4. Fundamental characteristics

   • Name
   • Brand or company by which it was manufactured.
   • Its bus width (measured in bits).
   • The speed with which they work (measured in hertz)
